Hemp seed pizza (pizza with hemp seeds) is a healthier and protein-rich alternative to regular pizza, where you can use hemp seeds in the dough, as a topping, or both. Here is a simple recipe suggestion:
For the pizza dough:
250 ml lukewarm water
25 g fresh yeast or 1 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
400 ml wheat flour (or mix with wholemeal/wholegrain flour)
50 ml shelled hemp seeds
For the topping (example):
Tomato sauce (crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano)
Mozzarella or vegan cheese
Fresh vegetables: peppers, red onion, courgette
Fresh baby spinach or rocket
2 tbsp shelled hemp seeds as topping after baking
How to make it:
Dough: Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. Add oil, salt and hemp seeds. Work in the flour and knead into a smooth dough. Leave to rise under a cloth for 30–45 minutes.
Shape: Roll out the dough into a round pizza base on a sheet of baking paper.
Topping: Spread out the tomato sauce. Add cheese and your chosen vegetables.
Bake: In a 225°C oven for approx. 10–15 minutes, until the pizza has a nice colour.
After baking: Sprinkle over extra hemp seeds and optionally fresh rocket.
