What does a drug test actually measure?
A standard urine test does not look for THC itself, but for the body's breakdown product of active Δ9-THC. That is the active form formed in the body — not the acid form THCA that is naturally present in the living, unheated plant.
Why raw hemp contains THCA — not THC
In the living hemp plant, the cannabinoids exist almost entirely in their acid form: THCA, not THC. THCA is not psychoactive and normally does not show up the same way as active THC on a test. This is the same principle that separates CBDA from CBD. Helsama's flower powder is raw hemp — unheated and CBDA-dominant.
What happens when hemp is heated?
Heat drives a chemical process called decarboxylation: THCA converts into active Δ9-THC. That is why smoking, baking or cooking activates THC — and why large amounts of heated hemp could in theory raise the level of active THC enough to affect a sensitive test.
Why we recommend not heating the flower powder
The whole point of raw hemp is that it is, in fact, raw. Helsama's flower powder is made to be unheated — that is how the cannabinoids retain their natural acid form. We recommend that the product is not heated. The total THC content is below the EU limit of 0.3 %, but keeping the powder raw is both the idea of the product and what keeps the active THC level as low as possible.
Can hempseed cause a positive test?

Law and limits
